Faith Responders

Posted by thelamp on April 2, 2007

Time magazine published an interesting article last week that’s worth reading. It’s titled, “Saving New Orleans with Faith?” The crux of the piece is the important role faith-based organizations are playing in the region’s continuing recovery from hurricanes Rita and Katrina.

The city has become a poster child of sorts for what can be accomplished when government allows the church to do what it does best: help people. Of course, it took acts of God – the hurricanes – for God to be invited to the proverbial table.

America needs to recognize that the successful collaboration witnessed in New Orleans could be happening every day in cities, towns and rural communities across America.
