Poll Puts the Lie to Pro-Aborts’ Rhetoric

Posted by thelamp on August 23, 2006

The abortion lobby claims its main concern is about what’s best for women, especially teenagers. An Ohio researcher’s findings suggest that, for teenagers, abortion – not carrying an unintended pregnancy to term – carries the greatest risk for subsequent mental-health problems.

Dr. Priscilla Coleman of Bowling Green State University also found that teens who abort their babies are more likely to report trouble sleeping, and marijuana use. The results accounted for 17 other factors, including prior mental health history and family factors that could influence subsequent mental health.

The survey’s data was drawn from a study of adolescents who participated in interviews in 1995 and 1996. About 76 percent of the subjects who had abortions, and 80 percent of the subjects who gave birth were between the ages of 15 and 19.

Dr. Coleman’s conclusion? That while having a child as a teenager is not without problems, “the risks of terminating seem to be even more pronounced,” she said. “The scientific evidence is now strong and compelling. Abortion poses more risks to women than giving birth.”

Planned Parenthood’s research arm, the Alan Guttmacher Institute, has reported that about 25 percent of the abortions that take place each year are performed on females younger than 20. Dr. Coleman suggested that many of these females are pressured into having an abortion, possibly because they may be considered not ready to be a mother. “When women feel forced into abortion by others or by life circumstances, negative post-abortion outcomes become more common,” she wrote. “Adolescents are generally much less prepared to assume the responsibility of parenthood and are logically the recipients of pressure to abort.”

Her research appears in the Journal of Youth and Adolescence. Dr. Coleman’s study affirms what CMC has long stated about abortion – that it’s a morally repugnant solution to an inconvenient pregnancy, both for the baby’s sake and for the mother’s sake.

In Hialeah, Florida, July 20, 2006 at 2:30 pm, an 18 year old girl walked into A Gyn Diagnostics Center, 3671 W. 16th Ave, with the intention of aborting her baby.

The 18 year old mother then delivered a baby girl who was alive and breathing. Clinic worker, Belkis Gonzalez cut the umbilical cord of the baby, stuffed her into a bio-hazard bag, and removed every moment of love or life the little girl would ever see again.

The deceased infant was then hidden from police as her body decomposed on a scorching Florida roof for 9 long days.

Two witnesses have testified that they are certain they saw the baby alive and moving. The Medical Examiner determined the baby was born alive. Now 30 days later, no arrests have been made.

Creative thinking should be viewed as an essential supplement to, though not a replacement for, critical thinking
