Double Standards in the Middle East

Posted by thelamp on August 2, 2006

Rockets continue to fly across the Israel-Lebanon border, but only one side seems to be blamed for the fighting. Naturally the blame is not falling on Hezbollah, who started the war. It’s being laid at the feet of Israel, who is committed to ending the war by winning it.Now more than ever, Israel needs the righteous support of the Body of Christ in this nation. To send an e-mail to your U.S. Senators and Member of Congress in support of Israel, click here.

To help you better understand the conflict in the Middle East, CMC is offering a prophetic message from Pastor Rod Parsley, “Iran & Iraq: Impending Apocalypse,” for your gift of any size. Click here to make an online donation. If you’d prefer to mail a check, download this printable response form.

The war is in its fourth week, and many international leaders are insistent that Israel agree to a cease-fire. Wisely, Israel is refusing. A cease-fire would only give Hezbollah time to regroup and break the stalemate at a time of its choosing.

Israel especially drew criticism for a bombing last week in Qana, which killed at least 54 Lebanese civilians. Israel is investigating what it called an accident; initially, the nation said the intended target was a nearby Hezbollah position.

Few, if any of the national media are stating the obvious about this tragic situation: remaining civilians in southern Lebanon are in danger precisely because Hezbollah is there as well. That’s just the way Hezbollah likes it. Their troops, and their arsenals, are nestled among civilian locations for the cover they provide. The resulting loss of life is tragic, but preventable if civilians would evacuate what has become a war zone, exposing the terrorists.

The situation recalls a poignant quote from former Israeli Prime Minister Golda Meir: “When peace comes, we will perhaps in time be able to forgive the Arabs for killing our sons. But it will be harder for us to forgive them for having forced us to kill their sons.”

CMC urges its members and all believers to contacting their Member of Congress and U.S. Senators about the need for America to stand with Israel, especially while it is at war. An e-mail to contact legislators is available here.

You can also send an e-mail you can send to President Bush, asking him to resist pressure to call for a cease-fire. This e-mail is available here.

Pastor Rod Parsley recently preached a dynamic message, “Iran & Iraq: Impending Apocalypse,” that explains the situation in the Middle East in terms of biblical prophecy. CMC is currently offering the DVD of this message for your gift of any size. Won’t you consider a generous gift to allow CMC to keep advocating for Israel’s security?
